2010 Endorsements

About CTLCV Endorsements 
In election years, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters surveys candidates for state office about their positions on pressing environmental issues.  We consider candidate responses to our survey in our endorsement process.

Our 2010 Candidate Survey asks what role candidates will take, if elected, on a variety of environmental issues, and about their top environmental priority.  Candidates' survey responses, leadership history, and previous Environmental Scorecard scores are taken into consideration in our endorsement analysis.  Additionally, we may invite candidates for interviews.  Those candidates' interviews also form part of the basis of our endorsement analysis.

Instructions for Candidates
The online survey for candidates is closed.  The deadline for completing it was 8/27/2010.  Download the Survey in Word or PDF. 

We strongly advise all candidates to complete the survey online, but if you cannot complete the survey online, please type your responses into the word document available above, save it to your computer and email it to us at ctlcv@ctlcv.org.  If you must complete a paper survey, please email it to us at ctlcv@ctlcv.org or mail it to us at 553 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT 06105 allowing sufficient time for it to be received by the appropriate date above.

Dear General Assembly Candidate:

Your positions on Connecticut's current environmental issues are very important to the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters. Each year, we endorse candidates running for state office who have demonstrated leadership on environmental issues and who pledge to make the environment a high priority if elected. Your responses to this survey are part of our endorsement analysis.

You may wish to prepare your text responses in another document and copy and paste them into this survey. You may download a word version of this survey using the link at the top of this page to use as your working copy.

Please complete your survey by:

  • July 9, 2010 if you wish to be considered for early endorsement for the General Election.
  • July 23, 2010 for candidates who are not in a primary.
  • August 13, 2010 for candidates who are in a primary.

Lead versus Support: Before selecting what role you will play on each issue listed below, please note that:

  • “LEAD” means you will actively advance this issue during the legislative session.
  • “SUPPORT” means you will vote for or co-sponsor the pro-environment position.

  • Please be sure to press "done" at the end of the online survey. Otherwise, your entries will not be saved. 
  • When you finish the survey, please use your web browser to print a copy of your responses if you might like them for future reference.
