Following the 2018 Election, Governor-Elect Ned Lamont appointed CTLCV Executive Director Lori Brown to his Transition Team as a member of the Environment Committee. Along with other key advocates, CTLCV helped identify and propose key policy recommendations for the incoming Lamont Administration. 

On December 19, 2018, the Environment Committee presented their initial policy recommendations to the public. These action items represent the first of what the Committee hopes will be a robust environmental platform that will combat climate change, prevent waste and pollution, preserve our natural resources, and protect our public health.

Policy Recommendations

• Position Connecticut as a leader in the fight against climate change by developing a regional carbon pricing plan.
• Pass the State Water Plan and ensure water remains a public trust.
• Provide more options for towns and municipalities to purchase dedicated open space, farmland, parks, historic sites, and more.
• Reduce waste by diverting more organic and food waste to local composting.
• Curb nitrogen poisoning in Long Island Sound.
• Improve permitting and grant processes at the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).
