Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Rep. Aundré Bumgardner (D) to represent the 41st House District of the CT General Assembly including the towns of Groton and Stonington. Voters have long relied on CTLCV's endorsements to identify candidates who will champion environmental protection. Rep. Bumgardner has shown a significant commitment to the environment, evidenced by his perfect 100% score on CTLCV’s Environmental Scorecard for the 2024 session. Rep. Bumgardner has consistently proven himself as a valuable and effective environmental leader in this second non-consecutive term in the House. He serves on several influential committees, including the Environment Committee, the Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee, and the Planning and Development Committee. His roles on these committees allow him to address a wide range of environmental issues and contribute impactful climate action policies. During the last legislative session, Rep. Bumgardner championed House Bill 5004, the session’s comprehensive climate legislation. He also co-sponsored and supported initiatives aimed at food waste diversion, neonicotinoids and rodenticide limitations, clean vehicle emissions standards, and environmental justice. Additionally, Bumgardner has been a strong advocate for amending the Connecticut state constitution to enshrine environmental rights as a fundamental right for all citizens. Beyond his legislative responsibilities, Rep. Bumgardner remains deeply engaged with the community on environmental issues. He takes time to consult with advocates and experts and has hosted numerous discussion sessions that provide a platform for his constituents to engage in meaningful dialogue on environmental issues and potential solutions. Looking ahead, Rep. Bumgardner is dedicated to advancing the California Clean Cars and Trucks Standards in Connecticut and making cleaner electric vehicles more accessible to urban and low income communities. He remains passionate about wetlands protection and the preservation of Long Island Sound. Next year, Rep. Bumgardner aims to intensify his efforts in these areas. “Representative Bumgardner’s commitment to environmental stewardship is unwavering,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “His leadership in advancing climate legislation is crucial, but it’s his commitment to environmental justice that truly stands out. By ensuring that clean transportation and resource preservation benefit all communities, he is paving the way for a more equitable and sustainable future.” To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on a candidate’s responses, their voting record in our Scorecard, and their demonstrated leadership on specific issues. ### The CT League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) is a nonpartisan statewide organization dedicated to protecting Connecticut’s environment.
