Gregg Haddad Endorsed for House District 54

9/5/2024

Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Representative Gregg Haddad (D) to represent the 54th House District including the town of Mansfield. Voters have long relied on CTLCV's endorsements to identify candidates who will work hard to protect our environment. Representative Haddad has earned a perfect 100% rating on CTLCV’s  Environmental Scorecard.  He continues to make environmental justice and green energy top legislative priorities, supporting the Connecticut Clean Air Act (HB 5004) in 2024, and advocating for Connecticut’s participation in the Offshore Wind Multi-State Coordination with Massachusetts and Rhode Island, which will make clean energy rates more affordable and create more incentives for offshore wind development.

He currently co-chairs the Higher Education and Employment Advancement committee,  and serves on the Appropriations subcommittee for Higher Education. Rep. Haddad has been leading an effort to require College and University institutions to adhere to Connecticut’s statewide climate energy goals when building new facilities, which includes clean sources of energy for these facilities. With the University of Connecticut (UConn) in his district, Haddad is actively involved in supporting and advocating for the institution’s sustainability initiatives. Looking ahead to the next legislative session, Representative Haddad plans to work with his colleagues to advance climate legislation that failed to pass this year.
“Representative Haddad has been a steadfast supporter of environmental justice and clean energy,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “His dedication to advancing climate legislation and supporting green initiatives makes him a strong leader for Connecticut’s future.”
To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on a candidate’s responses, their voting record in our Scorecard, and demonstrated leadership on specific issues.
