Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Rep. Hector Arzeno (D) to represent the 151st House District of the Connecticut General Assembly, which includes the town of Greenwich. Voters have long relied on CTLCV's endorsements to identify candidates who will champion environmental protection. While in office, Rep. Arzeno has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the environment, earning a 100% rating on the CTLCV’s 2024 Environmental Scorecard. Rep. Arzeno is an effective lawmaker and environmental champion who consistently collaborates with his colleagues to pass important legislation and contributes to key discussions through his work on the Education, Environment, and Higher Education & Employment Advancement Committees. In the past session, he played a critical role in advocating for House Bill 5004, the session’s major climate action legislation that provided strong incentives for businesses to reduce their carbon emissions and many proactive measures to help put Connecticut on a path to reach our state’s air pollution reduction goals. In addition, Rep. Arzeno co-sponsored and actively supported a range of critical environmental bills, including restrictions on deadly pesticides—neonicotinoids and rodenticides— that are wreaking havoc on pollinators and wildlife, especially birds. He was a vocal supporter of initiatives on solar energy and expanding clean energy access across the state. He also promoted solutions to Connecticut’s waste crisis such as ramping up state efforts on composting and food donations programs as sustainable alternatives to burning or landfilling our garbage. As an environmental champion, Rep. Arzeno is poised to build on his past successes by advancing key legislation in the upcoming session. He plans to reintroduce and push forward bills on rodenticides, neonicotinoids, and climate change, continuing his commitment to environmental progress. “Rep. Hector Arzeno’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection and climate action is evident,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “His leadership on bold climate initiatives highlights his dedication to a sustainable future for all Connecticut communities.” To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on a candidate’s responses, their voting record in our Scorecard, and their demonstrated leadership on specific issues. ### The CT League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) is a nonpartisan statewide organization dedicated to protecting Connecticut’s environment. CTLCV works to pass equitable and sustainable legislation that impacts our air, land, water, wildlife, and climate and holds all state legislators accountable with an annual Environmental Scorecard.
