Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Representative Kate Farrar (D) to represent the 20th House District of the CT General Assembly including the town of West Hartford and Newington. Voters have long relied on CTLCV's endorsements to identify candidates who will champion environmental protection. In 2024, Kate Farrar earned a perfect 100% rating on CTLCV’s Environmental Scorecard. Rep. Farrar is currently the Deputy Majority Leader in the House and is Vice Chair of the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee, so she is well versed in the challenges of securing funding for important programs. In her first term, Rep. Farrar successfully passed a bill that granted rebates for electric bikes, expanding Connecticut’s clean transportation options. The rebate program went into effect in 2023 and was so popular it will certainly need funding in future years. Farrar has taken active measures to engage with her constituents on climate action, hosting a packed “Climate, Coffee & Conversation” event with constituents to discuss important environmental legislation pending at the Capitol. She co-sponsored and supported the passage of many priority environmental issues at the legislature this year, including bills focused on solar energy, and this session’s comprehensive Climate Protection Act. Ferrar also serves on the Transportation Committee where she has been proactively working to expand state transportation and housing policy to include the Complete Streets framework. This is a US DOT policy & design approach to ensure streets are safe and accessible for all people & modes of transportation. Championing this cause will further Connecticut citizens’ access to safe and healthy transportation options. “From the very start of her time at the legislature, Rep. Farrar has been an enthusiastic champion for the environment,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “Her commitment to climate action highlights her role in driving Connecticut’s environmental progress. We look forward to her continued efforts at the legislature.” To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on candidates’ responses, voting records in our Scorecard, and demonstrated leadership on specific issues. ### The CT League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) is a nonpartisan statewide organization dedicated to protecting Connecticut's environment. CTLCV works to pass equitable and sustainable legislation that impacts our air, land, water, wildlife, and climate and holds all state legislators accountable with an annual Environmental Scorecard.
