Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Kenneth Gucker (D) to represent the 138th House District of the CT General Assembly including the town of Danbury. Voters have long relied on CTLCV's endorsements to identify candidates who will champion environmental protection. In all previous legislative sessions, Gucker earned a perfect 100% rating on CTLCV’s Environmental Scorecard. Gucker served two terms in the House of Representatives and proved himself as an effective lawmaker and environmental champion, consistently co-sponsoring and advocating for meaningful environmental policies. This reputation is in sharp contrast to his opponent, who has received failing Environmental Scorecard ratings (43% and 63%), highlighting the clear difference in their commitment to environmental protection Gucker previously served on the Planning and Development committee and the Environment committee. During his time at the Capitol, he worked on legislation to address Connecticut’s growing trash crisis, including modernizing our landmark recycling law known as the “Bottle Bill,” and supporting legislation to reduce plastics and Styrofoam from our waste stream. He was a vocal supporter of clean energy investment and clean emissions standards for vehicles. And he led the charge to secure state funding to combat invasive aquatic species that contaminating our waterways. He will continue to support restrictions on toxic pesticides (neonicotinoids and rodenticides) that are devastating to wildlife, especially pollinators and birds. Gucker has consistently demonstrated his commitment to preserving Danbury’s natural resources and ecosystems. He played a key role in preventing ecologically harmful development, working alongside neighbors to ensure that environmental concerns, such as protecting adjacent water sources, were prioritized. His efforts with local neighborhood groups to prevent commercial encroachment in residential zones further underscores his commitment to preserving Danbury's natural landscapes for all to enjoy. Looking ahead, Gucker is eager to return to the legislature. Renowned for his proactive approach and relentless drive, he is dedicated to expanding recycling initiatives, promoting low-impact outdoor recreation, and strengthening environmental protections across the state. His determination and collaborative spirit make him an effective leader who has made a significant impact on Connecticut’s environmental policies. “With his proven track record, experience, and dedication to issues that matter for all Connecticut communities, CTLCV is proud to endorse Ken Gucker,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “ We need him at the State Capitol, where he can continue to be a strong leader for his district and the state.” To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on candidates’ responses, voting records in our Scorecard, and demonstrated leadership on specific issues. ### The CT League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) is a nonpartisan statewide organization dedicated to protecting Connecticut's environment.
