Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Representative Mary Mushinsky (D) to represent the 85th House District of the CT General Assembly including the town of Wallingford. Voters have long relied on CTLCV's endorsements to identify candidates who will champion environmental protection. Rep. Mary Mushinsky has earned consistently high scores on CTLCV’s Environmental Scorecard for as long as the League has been rating lawmakers on their environmental votes. Rep. Mary Mushinsky is Connecticut’s foremost environmental champion and a true role model for environmental advocates across the state. With a distinguished career beginning in 1980, she brings unparalleled experience to her role as Deputy Speaker. A trained biologist, Rep. Mushinsky has consistently led efforts on critical issues such as recycling, packaging reduction, and open-space preservation. Her previous role as Chair of the Environment Committee and her current positions on both the Environment and Energy & Technology Committees reflect her deep commitment to these causes. This past session, Rep. Mushinsky continued to demonstrate her leadership by introducing the original Environmental Rights Amendment, which would enshrine citizens' environmental rights in the state constitution. In addition, her legislation supporting cost-saving Heat Pumps for homes and businesses was incorporated into House Bill 5004, the major climate legislation of 2024 designed to advance environmental policy that aids Connecticut households. “Representative Mushinsky’s decades of experience and steadfast dedication to environmental protection make her an invaluable leader in the fight for our planet’s future,” said Lori Brown, Executive Director of CTLCV. “Her deep expertise and passion for environmental rights are crucial to securing a healthier, more sustainable Connecticut.” To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on a candidate’s responses, their voting record in our Scorecard, and their demonstrated leadership on specific issues. ### The CT League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) is a nonpartisan statewide organization dedicated to protecting Connecticut’s environment. CTLCV works to pass equitable and sustainable legislation that impacts our air, land, water, wildlife, and climate and holds all state legislators accountable with an annual Environmental Scorecard.
