Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Representative Mike Demicco (D) to represent the 12th House District of the CT General Assembly including the towns of Farmington and Unionville. Voters have long relied on CTLCV's endorsements to identify candidates who will champion environmental protection. Rep. Mike Demicco has always earned high marks on CTLCV’s Environmental Scorecard. He is among a handful of legislators who has been consistently honored by CTLCV as an “Environmental Champion.” For more than two decades, Rep. Demicco has demonstrated unwavering commitment to environmental protection and climate action. As a long-time member of the Environment Committee and former Co-Chair, Rep. Demicco’s leadership has been essential to the success of climate-friendly legislation, the banning of single use plastics, modernizing CT’s “Bottle Bill” recycling laws, restricting the use of harmful pesticides, and establishing sustainable solutions for waste management. In the recent legislative session, Rep. Demicco’s advocacy was essential in securing passage of the Climate Protection Act through the House. His work on the Energy & Technology Committee has been instrumental in advancing clean energy initiatives, while his roles on the Public Health and Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committees have allowed him to address environmental concerns within the contexts of public health and workforce development. “Rep. Demicco has been one of our top champions and a reliable leader at the Capitol on so many critical environmental issues.” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “His unwavering commitment and tireless efforts are unmatched. We are counting on his continued advocacy and experience to tackle our environmental challenges head on and strengthen protections for our air, land, water, and wildlife.” To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on a candidate’s responses, their voting record in our Scorecard, and their demonstrated leadership on specific issues. ### The CT League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) is a nonpartisan statewide organization dedicated to protecting Connecticut’s environment. CTLCV works to pass equitable and sustainable legislation that impacts our air, land, water, wildlife, and climate and holds all state legislators accountable with an annual Environmental Scorecard.
