Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) congratulates Rep. Linda Orange (D-48; Colchester, Lebanon, Mansfield, Windham) on her victory in the 48th State House District. CTLCV endorsed Orange because she has been a staunch advocate for protecting our open spaces.

“We at CTLCV made sure voters knew how hard Rep. Orange has worked to protect our parks, farms, trails, and open spaces,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “She’s been a critical supporter of giving our communities new ways to purchase dedicated open space, and her victory today proves voters want her to keep up the fight. She has always been a forward-thinker, and we look forward to continuing our work with her in the days to come.”

Orange was one of 36 candidates CTLCV endorsed in the 2018 elections. Live updates on the election—including an up-to-the-minute count of CTLCV’s victories--can be found on our website.

CTLCV endorsed Wood because of her commitment to protecting our open space and her strong opposition to fracked natural gas waste or pipelines in Connecticut.

“Kerry’s victory today proves Connecticut voters care about electing leaders who will protect our environment and precious natural resources,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “She grew up on a farm and talked often about the impact of open space on our economy. CTLCV made sure our members knew her commitment to preserving our parks, farms, forests, and beaches, and they came out in droves to deliver her this victory. We look forward to working with her in the upcoming legislative session.”

Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) congratulates Mary Abrams (D-13; Cheshire, Meriden, Middlefield, Middletown) on her victory in the 13th State Senate District. CTLCV endorsed Abrams for her strong commitment to protecting our public health, especially in comparison to her opponent, incumbent Len Suzio.

“Connecticut voters made it clear they will not tolerate lawmakers who put polluters over people,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “CTLCV worked hard to support Mary Abrams over Len Suzio through canvasses, direct mail, and digital advertisements.”

CTLCV’s Political Action Committee invested more than $20,000 in the race for the 13th Senate District. Their digital advertisements reached over 670,000 computers, phones, and mobile devices in the 13th District, and CTLCV’s direct mail pieces were sent to nearly 13,000 households. Additionally, CTLCV and the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) named Len Suzio to its Dirty Dozen in the States list, which record the worst anti-environment state lawmakers in the country.

“We made sure all voters in the 13th District knew that Suzio blocked critical bans to toxic tire mulch in public playgrounds and carcinogenic chemicals in children’s clothing. At every door we knocked and in every conversation we had, people told us how Suzio’s toxic voting record was driving them to the polls,” said Brown. “Mary Abrams, on the other hand, has a record of standing up for our children and our public health through her work as an educator. We look forward to working with her in the days to come.”

Abrams was one of 36 candidates CTLCV endorsed in the 2018 elections. Live updates on the election—including an up-to-the-minute count of CTLCV’s victories--can be found on our website.

With the State Water Plan returning to the legislature next session, we look forward to continuing our work with Sen. Bye to put people’s basic needs ahead of special interests.”

With the latest reports from the United Nations and scientists worldwide urging our lawmakers to act on climate before it’s too late, Rep.
