What Is the Connecticut General Assembly (CGA)?The Connecticut General Assembly (CGA) is the state’s legislative body, responsible for proposing, debating, and passing state laws. It is made up of two chambers: the House of Representatives and the Senate. During the legislative session, lawmakers consider thousands of bills, hold public hearings, and vote on policies that shape Connecticut’s environmental, climate, and conservation future.

In these even-numbered year sessions, the state constitution and legislative rules limit the introduction of new bills to matters related to the budget, revenue, and other financial issues. How to Take ActionSubmit Testimony: Public hearings are opportunities to submit testimony in support or opposition of a bill before a committee. Check out CTLCV's submitted testimony here. Action Alerts: During the session, CTLCV will send out Action Alerts via our email list. These are opportunities to send a message to your lawmaker asking them to vote with the environment in mind.
