Picture
In the 2024 session, many bills faced significant opposition, delaying action on key climate and clean energy initiatives. Despite these challenges, the commitment to long-term environmental solutions remains strong.

View the 2024 Environmental Scorecard to learn more about the session's highlights, challenges, and ongoing efforts needed to safeguard Connecticut's environment. The Scorecard provides an environmental and democracy score for every state legislator, along with descriptions of the key bills tracked throughout the session.

ABOUT THE SCORECARD
The Environmental Scorecard is an important tool when it comes to holding lawmakers accountable for their positions on issues and sets the stage for the next session's environmental priorities.

For more than two decades, CTLCV has helped elect environmental champions and hold our legislators accountable for passing bills to protect our environment. Our annual Environmental Scorecard rates state legislators on key environmental priorities each year.

The legislation included in our Scorecard represents a diverse set of environmental concerns. CTLCV consults with other environmental groups, advocates, and stakeholders about key priorities and important initiatives. Throughout the legislative session, we track lawmakers' votes and send regular updates to legislators and our Members about the bills on our watchlist to be sure the pro-environment position is clear before any votes are cast.

CTLCV grades lawmakers on a 0 - 100% scale based on how they vote on key environmental and democracy bills in committees, the House, and the Senate. Their final score represents an average of their votes on those specific bills.

Please note: CTLCV does NOT currently score absences or abstentions.
