Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) congratulates Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey (D-133; Fairfield) on her victory in the 133rd State House District. CTLCV endorsed McCarthy Vahey because of her longtime advocacy for carbon pricing and pollution reduction. “Rep. McCarthy Vahey knows polluters shouldn’t be able to poison our air and force the rest of us to pay for the damage they do,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “Throughout her time in the General Assembly, Rep. McCarthy Vahey has been a passionate supporter for sensible carbon pricing. Her victory today shows voters care just as much about protecting the air we breathe. They’ve watched Washington rollback clean car standards and other safeguards, and so they came out in droves to support McCarthy Vahey and other champions for our clean air.” McCarthy Vahey was one of 36 candidates CTLCV endorsed in the 2018 elections. Live updates on the election—including an up-to-the-minute count of CTLCV’s victories--can be found on our website. ###
