CTLCV Endorses Dorinda Borer For House District 115

Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Representative Dorinda Borer (D) to represent the 115th House District of the CT General Assembly, including the town of West Haven.

For the past two years, Dorinda Borer has earned a perfect 100% rating on CTLCV’s Environmental Scorecard.

Representative Borer is currently the Chair of the state legislature’s Bonding Committee. As a former co-chair of the Environment committee, she understands the need for funding to support our environmental programs. In her current leadership position, she has led the financing of clean water, open space, green pathways, and brownfield remediation.

Representative Borer organized one of the first forums on Waste Management during the 2021 Legislative Session, which was a springboard for updating our state’s landmark recycling law, the “Bottle Bill.”

During the 2022 session, she introduced legislation to tackle food insecurity. This directly ties to the reduction of food waste, which compromises 24% of our waste stream. Looking ahead to 2023, Representative Borer will continue to push for solutions to our growing waste management crisis, such as legislation to reduce polystyrene and plastic from our waste stream.

Dorinda Borer is also a passionate advocate for animal welfare.  She is a member of the legislature’s Animal Advocacy Caucus, which works with many nonprofit animal protection groups to craft legislation to help both domestic animals and wildlife.  She plans to continue the fight for humane policies that educate the public about wildlife, and for laws that will reduce animal abuse and suffering.

“Dorinda Borer is an extremely effective voice for her district and has a powerful leadership role in support of funding for environmental programs in our state,” said CTLCV Executive Director Lori Brown. “We need her at the Capitol to continue her good work.”

To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on candidates’ responses, voting records in our Scorecard, and demonstrated leadership on specific issues.
