Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz (D-30) for the Connecticut General Assembly. Throughout his time in leadership, Aresimowicz appointed environmental champions to key roles and prioritizes the environment in the bills brought for a vote.
“Connecticut can count on Speaker Aresimowicz to make sure clean energy, land conservation, and the environment always get a fair shake,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “When setting the legislative calendar, Speaker Aresimowicz prioritized the environment, and as a result the Connecticut General Assembly doubled its investments in clean energy and committed to cutting our carbon emissions in half. These are bold initiatives, and they would not be possible without leaders like the Speaker who know that a healthy environment also means a healthy economy.” To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, candidates must have completed the Survey on the Environment earlier this summer. All candidates running for legislative office were invited to complete the questionnaire, and CTLCV received over 100 responses. Endorsements are issued based on a candidate’s responses as well as additional information provided to CTLCV’s Endorsement Committee. This endorsement is part of the third round in CTLCV's ongoing endorsement process.
