CTLCV Endorses Kate Farrar For House District 20

9/1/2022

Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Representative Kate Farrar (D) to represent the 20th House District of the CT General Assembly including the town of West Hartford.

For the past two years, Kate Farrar has earned a perfect 100% rating on CTLCV’s Environmental Scorecard.

It was a phenomenal year for climate action. These wins would not be possible without the leadership of  lawmakers like Kate Farrar.

Representative Farrar supported the passage of many environmental bills at the legislature this year, including the most significant climate legislation in a decade.  The CT Clean Air Act will reduce pollution from transportation with  a strong focus on equity and investments.  Representative Ferrar not only worked to pass this bill, she played a central role in securing rebates for electric bicycles as an increasingly popular alternative means of local transportation to reduce emissions.

Looking ahead to 2023, Representative Farrar wants to prioritize the protection of trees and the expansion of urban forestry. CTLCV has long regarded nature-based solutions as one of the most important and effective means to address climate change and applauds Representative Ferrar for her efforts.

“Kate Farrar is a committed pro-environment leader and a strong progressive voice for her district. If re-elected, she will continue fighting to improve protections for the land, air, and waters of our state,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director

To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on candidates’ responses, voting records in our Scorecard, and demonstrated leadership on specific issues.
