CTLCV Endorses Kenneth Gucker For House District 138

9/6/2022

Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Representative Kenneth Gucker (D) to represent the 138th House District of the CT General Assembly including the towns of Danbury, Ridgefield, and New Fairfield.

Representative Kenneth Gucker has earned a perfect 100% rating on our Environmental Scorecard for the past two years.

There were huge wins this year on climate. As a member of the legislature’s Environment Committee, Representative Gucker worked tirelessly to pass the CT Clean Air Act that will significantly reduce diesel pollution from trucks and buses, and invests heavily in clean transportation.

His efforts helped to move two more critical clean energy bills:  the Climate Mitigation Act will ensure that 100% of our electricity comes from clean sources by 2040, and a bill that removes barriers to rooftop commercial solar production and expands shared community solar projects.  All of these wins are crucial steps toward achieving Connecticut’s clean energy goals under the Global Warming Solutions Act.

Representative Gucker has been at the forefront of environmental progress for his District and our state.  Last year, he worked on legislation to address Connecticut’s growing trash crisis, including modernizing our landmark recycling law, known as the “Bottle Bill”.
Looking ahead, he plans to focus on our recycling systems, composting, and reducing waste currently being burned, buried, or shipped out of state. This includes legislation to reduce plastics and Styrofoam from our waste stream.

“Kenneth Gucker is dedicated and well-informed about our state’s environmental problems and is tackling them head-on. We need him at the State Capitol, where he can continue to be a strong leader for his district and the state,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director.

To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, all candidates must have completed a Survey on the Environment. Endorsements are issued based on candidates’ responses, voting records in our Scorecard, and demonstrated leadership on specific issues.
