Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Democrat Kerry Szeps Wood for the Connecticut General Assembly. Szepswood is running for the open seat in the 29th House District. As a real estate agent, she knows how important protecting our farmland and open space is to improving home values and quality of life. She is a strong opponent to proposed pipelines for fracked natural gas, and an advocate for water as a public trust.
“Kerry knows that when our towns invest in their parks, trails, greenways, and historic properties, it’s easy to attract and keep residents to our communities,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “She grew up on a farm, and she knows how important it is to preserve our rural, open spaces. Kerry also understands how investing in clean energy will bring down energy costs for farms, homeowners, and small businesses while also creating good jobs. We need more leaders like Kerry who understand a healthy environment is key to a healthy economy. To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, candidates must have completed the Survey on the Environment earlier this summer. All candidates running for legislative office were invited to complete the questionnaire, and CTLCV received over 100 responses. Endorsements are issued based on a candidate’s responses as well as additional information provided to CTLCV’s Endorsement Committee. This endorsement is part of round three in an ongoing endorsement process. A full list of CTLCV’s endorsements can be found on our website. ### This information is paid for by the CTLCV Political Action Committee.
