Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Sen. Martin Looney (D-11) for the Connecticut State Senate. Looney is the current Senate President Pro Tempore and a longtime advocate for environmental protection. He holds a Lifetime Score of 91% as of CTLCV’s 2018 Environmental Scorecard, and has been a vocal advocate for water as a public trust.
“Senator Looney has been a staunch defender of the public’s right to have a say in how we use our water,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “As Senate President, he has always ensured the environment remains a top priority in the legislation brought to the floor. We need more leaders like Senator Looney who are committed to protecting our clean air and water and investing in clean energy.” To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, candidates must have completed the Survey on the Environment earlier this summer. All candidates running for legislative office were invited to complete the questionnaire, and CTLCV received over 100 responses. Endorsements are issued based on a candidate’s responses as well as additional information provided to CTLCV’s Endorsement Committee. A full list of CTLCV’s endorsements can be found on our website. ### This information is paid for by the CTLCV Political Action Committee.
