Hartford, CT – Today, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) endorsed Sen. Toni Boucher (R-26) for the Connecticut General Assembly. Boucher has been a champion for open space and land conservation, and spearheaded the preservation of the Troutbrook Reservoir and other natural resources. She supports responsible carbon pricing initiatives to ensure polluters pay for the damage they cause, and has proven herself to be a thoughtful leader who can work across the aisle to protect the environment.
“Sen. Boucher knows the importance of preserving open space, and has always been a passionate champion for the environment,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. “As a leader on the Transportation Committee, Sen. Boucher fought to preserve Troutbrook Reservoir and other key open spaces. She knows land conservation is critical to fighting climate change, and that the parks, greenways, trails, and historic properties they support help attract and retain new residents. In this time of intense partisanship, we need more leaders like Sen. Boucher who know the importance of working across the aisle to protect our environment.”
To receive CTLCV’s endorsement, candidates must have completed the Survey on the Environment earlier this summer. All candidates running for legislative office were invited to complete the questionnaire, and CTLCV received over 100 responses. Endorsements are issued based on a candidate’s responses as well as additional information provided to CTLCV’s Endorsement Committee.
These endorsements represent the third round in an ongoing endorsement process. A full list of CTLCV’s endorsements can be found on our website.
